42 miles (58km) 3877 ft (1181 m) of Ascent today has been awesome ๐คฉ
We woke this morning to blue skies & much less wind, what's not to like โ๏ธ One thing that has struck me today are the big skies, they are beautiful and not something we experience in the part of the country we live in ๐
Giggleswick is lovely and at the bottom of a blooming great big hill ๐ฑ some of it at 20% - yikes ๐ง so the first 4 1/2 kms was up a hill before the legs had a chance to warm up, interestingly the first 100 or so metres was on cobbles. I'm so glad it isn't raining ๐ง๏ธ, slippy cobbles and a big climb not a great combo on cold muscles ๐ฆต
So a good breakfast of a poached egg & bacon on an English muffin & copious amounts of coffee the order of the day ๐ณ ๐

Awesome landscapes, BIG climbs of 18, 19 & 20%. You know you are going slowly weaving up a hill when your garmin goes onto autopause ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐ฑ Today was tough in terms of elevation, but epic and thoroughly enjoyable, even better when you do it with good friends ๐, the weather was kind, lunch was superb & now we are in Ripon. We are all proud of what we achieved today, no bike/hiking for us, we had a lot of heavy breathing, probs a few curses & a lot of puffing & panting but we did it! ๐๐ช
The downhill into Pateley Bridge was amazing as much as it was scary, the guides had warned us about it & they were right to do so, I think new brake pads are needed on my bike ๐ฑ. Going through the deer park at Fountain Abbey was amazing ๐ป A long straight road downhill ๐๐ดโ๏ธ๐ดโ๏ธ๐ดโ๏ธ๐ดโ๏ธ
Recovery needed before the trip to Pocklington tomorrow.
thank you for reading & I'll see you tomorrow x

When do you get to Bridlington
We get into Bridlington on Sunday afternoon, Iโm not sure what time xx
Great pics and sounds like you had a fantastic day. Iโm glad itโs you doing those hills and not me ๐คฃ
Thanks Kaz, there may have been the odd profanity ๐คฌ when you go round a bend & find out you are still going up!
Amazing! Sounds like a tough day! Well done all ๐๏ธ ๐ฒ
Thanks Sean, it is wild and very beautiful
Your blogs are fab - remember those cobbles, Portugal is full of them in every little village. As you say lethal in the wet. Glad you got fine weather - the thought of rain doesnโt inspire me. Looking forward to tomorrow xx
Thank you Sara, thatโs really kind of you. Looks like you are having an amazing time in France. xx
Sounds like you had a great day and the weather has been kind to you. Well done with the ascents. Ripon is a lovely city bet you didnโt have time to go to the Cathedral did you?
Thank you Doreen, we havenโt had time to go to the cathedral, we saw it from a distance and it looks amazing, itโs such a beautiful part of the country. We are stopping in York for lunch tomorrow so hoping to have a look round if we get chance xx
Sounds like a tough day, well done everyone. Enjoy day 3 x
Why is it that your rides always sound so much more exciting than mine? (And don't say because they are!!!)
The only answer to that is because they are ๐๐คฃ hope you are getting better. You should try a trip like this it is great ๐
Enjoy the hills tomorrow
I will, thank you
thank you
