Hello it’s Duck π¦ Boneham here for the last day, the rain yesterday was again coming down in biblical proportions, fortunately we had made it to the hotel before the storm βοΈ started. We waited in the lobby hoping to be able to go out & get something to eat π we waited a long time!!
Despite the rain, 6 of us went out for dinner. Hazell, Norman, Jerry, Richard & Stephen π and very nice it was too!
Friday morning dawned damp and dull, the thunderstorms βοΈ lasted for hours & well into the night. We had a lovely morning, a fab lunch & then the heavens open, words fail me on how bad it has been.
I took cover in a cave with an Australian called Gerry, I phoned Chris just to hear a friendly voice, I never want to repeat the experience.
The hail stones cracked my Garmin screen, so that needs replacing. We cycled in torrents of water with rain & hail beating on our hands. We cycled from one tunnel to the next to try and find some shelter, unfortunately with the forecast to get worse, we had to ride through it.
When we got to Nice we were drenched, but the sun came out & the people on the beach in their swim wear, gave us some very odd looks....what rain ππ€£
I cried in Nice from sheer exhaustion and relief at having arrived safely.
Thank you for reading & for being on this journey with me ππ¦βοΈπ΄βοΈ.
My moto has always been “if you believe you can you will” and today I kept repeating that to myself. We all have individual targets and achievements so my advice is believe in yourself, you will be amazed at what You can do xx

omg Wendy! well if anyone can demonstrate how the human spirit can conquer, then it's you. not only inspirational but totally barmy. I have sat on my nice cozy sofa thinking what next? how can you top this, but I know you probably will. hope to see you on your return complete with your flippers π
Lol.... thanks Liz, be lovely to see you when i get back. I reckon coming back from Malvern in the rain with a head wind was good training. Not sure what to do next, will have to think about that.
